Midtronics Receives Patent for Testing JIS Batteries

Willowbrook, IL — November 3, 1998: Midtronics today announced the issue of a new patent for testing JIS - Japanese OEM batteries. The patent was issued by the US patent office on November 3, 1998. The patent number is 5,831,435.

"Our continued creativity and diligence in creating and improving our core technology will help to maintain our leadership position in battery testing," said Steve McShane, President and CEO of Midtronics. Midtronics has received 15 patents for battery and related systems testing.

Midtronics created the testing algorithm for JIS batteries while working on development of an Special Service Tool for Toyota and Lexus, the MicroPro815, which was delivered to dealers in 1997. "The JIS test algorithm was specifically designed for testing Japanese OEM batteries, which are rated using the JIS standard and have unique behavior qualities, said Mike Troy, Automotive Engineering Manager. The JIS test algorithm is available in the Midtronics Micro500 Battery/Starting/Charging System Analyzer released earlier this year.
