 | Willowbrook, Illinois - July 5, 2000: Midtronics, Inc. has recently announced that the company has been issued a new United States patent. This latest patent is for the encryption of input and output of information relating to a battery test. The most common use of this method is by most major automotive OEM’s around the world as part of a battery warranty management system. The U.S. Patent Office issued the patent, number 6,051,976, on April 18, 2000. Midtronics has been assigned or licensed to 22 patents for battery testing, charging and monitoring.
“The innovation represented by this patent has already saved automobile manufacturers millions of dollars in reduced warranty,” said Steve McShane, President and CEO of Midtronics, “this technique is now being employed by a number of automotive parts organizations and battery manufacturers to control warranty cost and improve customer service.”
Midtronics has developed the unique warranty encryption system in an effort to assist automobile manufacturers in controlling the process of servicing batteries returned under warranty. The resulting code tells the car manufacturer the details of the test, so warranty claims can be fulfilled without delay. The battery testers and chargers utilizing this technology are user-friendly making it simple for dealer service or part counter personnel to accurately interpret the results of the battery test.
