Midtronics Releases Standby Battery Charge Controller for Enhanced Battery Life

Willowbrook, IL. – January 3, 2002: Midtronics today announced the release of its Charge Control Device (CCD-100), designed to regulate standby battery charging for improved battery performance and lifespan. The CCD-100 provides system operators with a solution to prevent reduced battery performance and premature deterioration that can be caused by constant-current charging equipment sometimes found in telecommunications, UPS and other power systems. These power plants are often not temperature compensated and can deliver excessive charging voltages, particularly during low ambient temperature operation, a phenomenon that has been identified as a significant contributor to premature capacity loss of installed VRLA mono-block batteries. The Midtronics CCD-100 protects batteries from damaging over-charge conditions, offering another level of insurance for standby battery systems.

“Midtronics continually seeks to develop innovative battery management products,” said Todd Stukenberg, Midtronics’ Standby Power Products Marketing Manager. “This Charge Control Device is an extension of that pursuit, offering a creative, cost effective method for enhancing battery life and system reliability.”

The CCD-100 is available through Midtronics’ worldwide distribution network and European Headquarters in the Netherlands.
