Midtronics Announced the Release of its Latest In-Vehicle Battery Monitoring and Management Platform

Willowbrook, IL. – February 26, 2002: Midtronics has announced the release of its latest in-vehicle battery monitoring and management platform, inGEN EV. Recently unveiled at the 2001 SAE Truck and Bus show and at the 2002 Advanced Automotive Battery Conference, inGEN EV is an engineering evaluation unit of the inGEN platform. It provides vehicle and electrical system designers an ability to view and assess the advanced features of inGEN technology on any 14-volt lead-acid automotive battery. These features include continuous voltage, current, temperature and conductance measurements that enable real-time state-of-charge (SOC) and state-of-health (SOH) diagnostics to provide advanced warning of battery problems. The diagnostics can also enable deliverable energy, charge acceptance, and state of life calculations for advanced electrical and charging systems in 14V, 24V, 42V or EV/HEV applications. inGEN technology can also be used to optimize the charging system and prioritize electric loads, providing improvements in fuel economy, customer satisfaction and system costs.

According to Michael Cox, Director of OEM Products and Systems for Midtronics, inGEN technology “will be deployed in 2002 in military and heavy-duty trucking applications as a stand-alone smart sensor. The inGEN Evaluation Unit gives vehicle systems designers the opportunity to review and evaluate Midtronics’ state-of-the-art battery monitoring technology, as inGEN is intended to be fully-integrated into the vehicle electrical system.” Midtronics is also pursuing global opportunities for licensing the diagnostic and charging technology of inGEN with system designers and integrators.
