Willowbrook, IL. – October 31, 2002: Midtronics today announced the introduction of their new onGUARD® XT - at the 2002 AAPEX show in Las Vegas, Nevada. The onGUARD XT is the first available battery state of health (SOH) monitor in the automotive aftermarket. The onGUARD XT is designed to help vehicle owners identify weak batteries before they fail - delivering peace of mind and helping to prevent costly breakdowns. In addition, the onGUARD XT helps the owners of stored vehicles know when their battery needs a charge, so they won't overcharge the battery or need to keep a charger continuously connected.
onGUARD XT uses Midtronics patented Conductance Technology, which is used in battery and electrical system analyzers around the world by most of the major vehicle OEMs and battery manufacturers in the transportation market. Once the onGUARD XT is connected to the battery, the user presses the button to calibrate to that battery. Later, the user simply presses the button at convenient opportunities to show an LED indication of Good, Replace, or Needs Charge. Car owners can perform a simple test while refueling or a few times a year prior to harsh seasonal weather such as extreme heat or cold. |
