 | Willowbrook, IL - October 20, 2003: Midtronics received notice from the United States Patent and Trademark Office that a new patent has been issued for its inGEN® intelligent battery management system, the company announced today.
The patent (number 6,633,165) is one of several that have been issued relative to the inGEN system. The inGEN system and its related patents include both state of the art microprocessor-based sensor hardware that continuously monitors the battery, and advanced adaptive-learning algorithms. These components provide diagnostic and prognostic capability to accurately calculate the battery’s power and charge potential. From the inGEN system, critical data can be transferred via the databus to the vehicle control units and electronics for load management and charge control, resulting in increased battery life, reduced emissions and improved fuel economy. Further, the driver/vehicle owner can also receive important information regarding pending battery, alternator or starter failure.
“This latest patent further demonstrates the innovation and advanced research that Midtronics is committed to in the area of battery and electrical system management,” said Steve McShane, President and CEO of Midtronics. “Midtronics has been investing heavily in this area for several years and as a result our intellectual property has grown. Soon these innovations will be integrated into vehicle systems worldwide.”
Integration of the inGEN system into production passenger vehicles is set for 2005 model year release, with additional military and heavy-duty truck applications set for production in 2004. |
